KCR Farmhouse Vicinity turns Education Hub
metro india news I hyderabad
In a striking transformation of public infrastructure, residential quarters originally planned during the BRS regime and constructed to house police personnel deployed at the then Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse in Gajwel are set to become classrooms for a new Telangana Public School. The school will be virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy during his visit to Siddipet district for the inauguration of an oil palm factory at Narmetta.
The quarters, which have remained unoccupied for a considerable period, have now been repurposed by the Congress government as part of its push to strengthen public education. The buildings, along with nearly six acres of adjacent government land, will form the campus of Telangana Public School, Gajwel. A Government Order issued by the Education Department on Friday night formalised the transfer of these structures for educational use.
Classes from pre primary to Class 8 will commence from the 2026 to 27 academic year. The government has also laid out a phased expansion plan, with Classes 9 to 12 to be introduced from the 2027 to 28 academic year. To support this expansion, Rs 16.62 crore has been sanctioned for additional infrastructure, including laboratories and playground facilities, as outlined in the same Government Order.
The location of the school, right next to KCR’s sprawling farmhouse, adds a layer of political and symbolic significance. The Telangana Public School initiative is a flagship programme of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy,
who recently announced plans to establish 100 such schools across the state, one in each Assembly constituency. Gajwel, represented by KCR, has emerged as one of the first beneficiaries of this ambitious plan.
Senior officials from the Chief Minister’s Office, the Directorate of School Education, and the Siddipet district administration recently inspected the site. The existing infrastructure, described as comparable to private convent schools, played a key role in the decision to fast track the project.
Local Congress leader Tumukunta Narsa Reddy welcomed the move, calling it a major boost for education in surrounding villages. He expressed optimism that the school would attract students from nearby institutions and evolve into a sought after government school. With additional facilities planned and a strong policy push behind it, the Telangana Public School in Gajwel is poised to become a model for smart centres of learning.
