The Bharat Rashtra Samithi has sharpened its attack on the ruling Congress government over the implementation of the Six Guarantees, a key electoral plank that played a decisive role in the 2023 Assembly elections. Addressing the media, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao stated that even after 840 days in power, the Congress government has failed to fully implement a single promise under the Six Guarantees framework.

To mount pressure on the government, BRS has decided to introduce a Private Member Bill in the ongoing budget session of the Telangana Legislature. The proposed bill seeks to provide legal backing to the Six Guarantees and compel the government to ensure their time bound implementation.

KTR said that he held detailed consultations on Saturday with senior leaders and legal experts, including former MPs, advocates, and former Advocate General, before drafting the bill. He emphasized that the move is aimed at safeguarding the interests of all sections of society including farmers,

women, students, youth, and government employees, who were promised benefits under these guarantees.

The BRS leadership will formally submit letters to the Assembly Speaker and the Legislative Council Chairman on Monday and Tuesday, seeking permission to introduce the bill in both Houses. The party is expecting a discussion on the bill on Friday, March 27.

KTR also announced that BRS will reach out to presidents of other political parties to seek their support, stressing that the issue goes beyond party lines and concerns the credibility of promises made to the people. He argued that if the Congress government is genuinely committed to fulfilling its assurances, it should have no hesitation in allowing and supporting the bill.

Recalling past precedents, he pointed out that Private Member Bills have been accepted and passed in the combined state earlier during the then CM NT Rama Rao tenure, reflecting the democratic spirit of legislative functioning. He asserted that both ruling and opposition parties should come together to ensure accountability and uphold the trust of the electorate.

The BRS maintains that the bill is not merely a political tool but a legislative mechanism to ensure that promises made to nearly four crore people are honored in letter and spirit.
