Revanth reviews CSR support for School Breakfast scheme and Indiramma Housing

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to establish a dedicated Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau to ensure scientific, long term planning for traffic regulation and safer roads across Telangana. Reviewing traffic management and road safety at MCRHRD with senior officials, the Chief Minister stressed that the focus should shift from mere enforcement of rules to systematic traffic regulation based on scientific studies and local conditions.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to prepare an institutional framework for the proposed bureau through a comprehensive study and conduct periodic reviews every two to three months to assess traffic management measures. He said traffic planning should account for weather conditions, working hours, peak traffic periods and local travel patterns before introducing new infrastructure projects.

Revanth Reddy also called for stronger measures to prevent accidents on the Outer Ring Road by ensuring strict monitoring against indiscriminate parking. He directed officials to accelerate the development of underpasses and elevated corridors wherever necessary to create a signal free traffic system and minimise vehicle stoppages at junctions.

The review meeting was attended by Government Advisors Sudarshan Reddy and Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, DGP CV Anand and other senior officials.

CSR support strengthens Government School Breakfast scheme

Later, the Chief Minister met representatives of the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation, Divi's Laboratories Limited and Aurobindo Pharma Limited at MCRHRD. In the presence of the Chief Minister, Aurobindo Pharma contributed ₹10 crore and Divi's Laboratories contributed ₹12.18 crore in CSR funds to support the State Government's breakfast programme in government schools, implemented through the Foundation.

Revanth Reddy said the government is exploring ways to link the programme with local farmers by encouraging centralised kitchens to procure vegetables, rice and other essential ingredients directly from nearby farmers. He said the initiative would promote organic cultivation, crop diversification and better incomes for farmers while ensuring nutritious meals for students. The Chief Minister also appreciated both companies for extending CSR support to the initiative.

Indiramma Housing to come up within Residential areas

Reviewing the Indiramma Urban Housing Scheme, the Chief Minister directed officials to identify unused government lands within the Core Urban Region and Outer Ring Road limits for constructing housing colonies in established residential areas. He instructed departments to utilise surplus lands belonging to Police, Revenue and Transport departments while providing alternative land where necessary.

Emphasising that housing should not be located far from workplaces, Revanth Reddy said such projects often remain unoccupied due to livelihood concerns. He directed that houses be developed close to employment opportunities to ensure better quality of life for beneficiaries.

The government plans to construct 7,680 flats in the first phase across 17 Assembly constituencies in the Core Urban Region. Each flat will have a built up area of about 528 square feet, with a carpet area of 400 square feet. While each unit costs around ₹11 lakh, the government will provide a ₹5 lakh subsidy and bear the entire land cost, with beneficiaries contributing the remaining ₹6 lakh. Officials were instructed to expedite land identification and implementation of the project.
