Mobile soil testing centres to come up in each district

Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao said that orders have also been issued to take steps to set up mobile soil testing centers, one per district. In addition to this, the video conferencing facility should be provided in 1,000 Rythu Vedikas this financial year.

The Minister held a review meeting with officials on the progress of budget proposals and schemes in the agriculture and allied sectors at the Secretariat here on Tuesday. Similarly, officials have been asked to prepare budget proposals for the enhancement of existing infrastructure and construction of new buildings in universities. He also said that officials should work with the government's priorities in mind and they should achieve results for the benefit of farmers.

On the occasion, Tummala directed the officials regarding the budget proposals to be sent to the Finance Department from the Agriculture and other allied departments for the year 2025-26. The officials were also ordered to promptly examine and take action on appeals from farmers, elected representatives and Ministers.

The Minister said the steps should be taken for the promotion of agricultural mechanisation and micro-farming equipment to benefit a large number of small and marginal farmers in Telangana. Tummala Nageswara Rao also asked that proposals be prepared for the establishment of three modern markets with advanced features in the State so that traders can go to farmers and buy.

The Minister also asked the officials to focus on organic farming and encourage the farmers in this regard in a big way.
