A social media post shared by Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh on the occasion of Ugadi has sparked a heated online debate, after a section of users misinterpreted an object seen in his puja room and alleged it was linked to “black magic.”

The controversy began after Lokesh shared photos of his Ugadi celebrations at home, where he marked the festival with his family. Posting a picture with his son Devansh, he captioned it “Ugadi with my champ,” adding that he was taking a break from his strict diet to enjoy festive food. Among the images shared were glimpses of his puja room, which later became the focal point of the debate.

In one of the photos, a small clay-like figurine placed beside traditional deity idols drew attention on social media. Some users questioned its presence, alleging it resembled an object used in occult practices. The claims quickly gained traction, with misleading narratives suggesting that the minister was engaging in inappropriate rituals.

Responding promptly, Lokesh took to social media to categorically refute the allegations and clarify the origin of the figurine. He explained that the object was a handmade idol of Lord Shiva created by his son Devansh at the age of four, along with a small Shivling placed beside it.

“For those curious about the figurine in our puja room, it is a Shiva idol lovingly made by my son when he was four years old. We have preserved it as a memory of his devotion,” Lokesh stated.

He further added that faith and devotion cannot always be understood or judged by everyone, concluding his message with “Harahara Mahadev.” The minister also expressed displeasure over attempts to link a child’s creative expression and devotion with baseless allegations.
