In a scathing attack on former CM and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy criticized the previous BRS government for failing to complete the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project and other key irrigation projects in Mahabubnagar district over the past decade.

Addressing “ Praja Palana – Pragathi Baata" public meeting in Narayanpet, CM Revanth Reddy stated that had the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project been completed, there would be no dispute today between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over Krishna River waters.

The Chief Minister accused KCR of deliberately neglecting Palamuru district, allowing its agricultural lands to dry up while water meant for the region was diverted to Rayalaseema. He alleged that KCR, instead of protecting Telangana’s interests, silently allowed the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government in Andhra Pradesh to push forward the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, which threatens to drain 10 TMC of water from Srisailam in a single day. CM Revanth held KCR and his irrigation minister, Harish Rao, responsible for the water crisis in Palamuru, questioning their decade-long inaction despite being in government and having control over Telangana’s irrigation projects.

Further attacking the previous government, Revanth Reddy highlighted how KCR’s administration failed to complete irrigation projects, leading to the mass migration of farmers from Palamuru in search of livelihood elsewhere. He accused the former CM of spending thousands of crores on the controversial Kaleshwaram project while completely ignoring the irrigation needs of Mahabubnagar district.

“KCR invited Jagan Mohan Reddy to Pragati Bhavan but failed to protect Telangana’s water rights. Instead, he allowed the diversion of Krishna water to Rayalaseema for commissions,” the CM charged. Also Revanth Reddy stated that after coming to power, his government initiated development works for the Narayanpet-Kodangal Lift irrigation project, which had been neglected for years.  In his speech, Revanth Reddy also addressed other developmental initiatives taken by the Congress government. He highlighted construction of 3,500 Indiramma houses in every constituency across Telangana initially.

CM stated that in just twelve months, his government has provided 55,000 jobs to unemployed youth, waived Rs 21,000 crores worth farm loans, and implemented welfare measures to support women’s education. He also noted that 600 RTC buses had been handed over to women’s self-help groups, making them owners in the transport sector.

Highlighting the achievements of the Congress government between 2004 and 2014, CM Revanth Reddy pointed out that 50 lakh Indiramma houses were built during that period, in contrast to the BRS government, which failed to provide double-bedroom houses to the poor in its ten-year tenure. He challenged BRS leaders to contest elections in villages where they had promised and built 2BHK houses, stating that Congress would do the same where Indiramma houses were built.

Revanth further accused the BJP and BRS of obstructing the state’s development by preventing industries and projects from coming to Telangana. He directly challenged KCR, his family, and BJP leaders such as Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay for an open debate on their respective governance records.  "Let’s compare twelve years of Modi’s rule, ten years of KCR’s governance, and twelve months of our administration. I am ready—tell me the place and date for the open debate," he declared.

Reiterating his commitment to the development of Palamuru, CM Revanth Reddy assured the people that his government would complete long-pending irrigation projects and ensure compensation for affected farmers. “It is my responsibility to fulfill all promises within five years, and I will not let the people of Palamuru down,” he vowed. The Chief Minister called upon Congress workers to defend the party’s efforts and counter the false narratives being spread by opposition parties.
