Five jailed for harassing woman in Abids

In a swift judicial outcome, the Abids Police Station secured a conviction against five individuals for publicly harassing a woman. The III Special Judicial Second Class Magistrate, M. Bhasker, found all five accused guilty and sentenced them to seven days of imprisonment.

On May 27, 2026, at around 6:30 PM near the Nizam College PG Hostel, five heavily intoxicated men misbehaved with and harassed a woman who was traveling on a motorcycle with her husband. The Abids Police acted promptly, registering E-Petty cases and producing the accused in court within 48 hours.

All five convicts are Nepal nationals working as catering labourers and residing in King Koti:Sunil (23), Umesh (22), Laxman (23), Purushotham (22) and Ram (23).

"This swift conviction sends a clear message that harassment against women will not be tolerated and will face immediate legal consequences,” said K. Parashuram, SHO, Abids PS

Station House Officer K. Parashuram commended the CDO Vertical team, the Investigating Officer, and the Court Constable for their diligent efforts in ensuring prompt justice and establishing a strong community deterrent.
