The Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that each member of women's self-help groups in Telangana will receive two sarees annually as a gift, reiterating the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. He stressed that all women, regardless of rural or urban backgrounds, will be treated equally and supported with quality sarees. Currently 67 lakh members are enrolled in the women help groups and the Congress government has targeted to enroll 1 crore members overall in the next few years.
Speaking after inaugurating a petrol station run by women’s groups in Narayanpet, CM highlighted the government's focus on economic development of women in the state. He reiterated the goal of creating one crore women millionaires in Telangana. The Chief Minister praised the pioneering efforts of women’s groups in setting up the first-ever women-managed petrol station in the country, a testament to their growing role across sectors.
Currently, women’s groups own 600 RTC buses in Telangana, and plans are underway to enable them to establish 1,000 MW solar power plants. Additionally, marketing platforms have been created at Shilparamam to promote products made by self-help groups. The CM acknowledged the crucial role these groups play, noting that their membership has grown to 67 lakh since the Congress government took office.
Revanth Reddy also urged BJP MP DK Aruna to advocate for central government funding for Telangana, while assuring that the State government remains committed to providing full support for women's advancement. He further emphasized the need for improving educational infrastructure, stating that funds will be allocated for the development of schools.
CM lays foundation for Medical college campus in Narayanpet
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the main building and hostel campus of the Government Medical College as well as Paramedical, and Nursing Colleges in Appakpalli, Narayanpet. Despite initial rejection by the Union government, Telangana team led by Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha secured approval for eight medical colleges, showcasing the government's commitment to healthcare and education, CM said while interacting with students.
The CM emphasized that the medical profession is a responsibility, not just a job. He announced that the college will be named after the late leader Chittem Narsi Reddy and assured efforts to develop infrastructure, ensuring quality education for aspiring doctors.
