HQ TASA hosts major veterans’ outreach at Kurnool

  1. Nearly 2,000 Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and dependants attended the mega rally organised under HQ Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA) in Kurnool.
  2. Eight Veer Naris were felicitated, while 10 veterans received wheelchairs and walking aids; AWPO also distributed job selection letters and shortlisted candidates for employment.
  3. A comprehensive medical camp offered free cancer screening, dental and eye check-ups, and medicines, supported by 10 doctors and 17 staff from reputed local hospitals.
  4. Out of 1,200 grievances received, 823 were resolved on the spot, with dedicated defence and state government helpdesks ensuring swift redressal and welfare assistance.

A Mega Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally was organised at TG Lakshmi Kalyan Mandapam, Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), under the aegis of Headquarters Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (HQ TASA). The rally was well attended by the Veterans and Veer Naris of Kurnool district. Nearly 2,000 Ex-Servicemen and their dependants participated in the event.

Major General Ajay Misra, General Officer Commanding, TASA, addressed the gathering, followed by an interactive session with the ESM community. The interaction provided much-awaited succour to the veterans, as such an event was being organised after a considerable gap. The rally was dedicated to honouring Veer Naris and Veterans and was also graced by the presence of Bastipati Nagaraju Panchalingala, Member of Parliament from Kurnool, and TG Bharath, MLA, Kurnool & Minister for Industries, Commerce & Food Processing, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

During the event, eight Veer Naris were felicitated, and ten Ex-Servicemen were provided with wheelchairs and walking sticks as part of welfare assistance. Updates on the latest policies and welfare schemes were provided by representatives from Colonel Veterans, ECHS, AWPO, URC, and the Rajya Sainik Board. The Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) handed over job selection letters to Ex-Servicemen and shortlisted candidates for various employment opportunities. In addition, a Medical Camp was organised at the venue, providing free cancer screening, dental and eye check-ups, along with free medicines.

The camp was supported by a team of nearly 10 doctors and 17 supporting staff, who volunteered from reputed hospitals in Kurnool and nearby areas. Grievance redressal desks of various Record Offices, Rajya Sainik Board, Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Veterans Cell, AWPO, ECHS, CDA Secunderabad, and multiple banks were established to ensure speedy resolution of issues. A total of 1,200 grievances were received, out of which 823 were resolved on the spot, while the remaining cases were forwarded to the respective Record Offices for further action.

Apart from Defence helpdesks, State Government helpdesks pertaining to Legal, Revenue, and Human Resources were also established to provide free counselling and assistance to Ex-Servicemen.

In view of the Defence Corridor being established in Kurnool, AWPO maintained close coordination with the HR helpdesks to facilitate future employment opportunities for Ex-Servicemen in upcoming ventures. The civil administration extended comprehensive support for the conduct of the rally, including provision of buses and the venue, police assistance for traffic regulation and crowd management, as well as fire tender and ambulance services. This initiative reaffirms the unwavering commitment of HQ TASA towards the welfare of its veterans and their families.
