Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a high level meeting with leaders of various government employee unions at Jubilee Hills on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Members of Parliament, and key representatives from employee unions, including the Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee and Joint Staff Council.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister acknowledged the role played by government employees in implementing welfare schemes and ensuring that benefits reach the grassroots level. He stated that the success of governance initiatives is largely dependent on the dedication and cooperation of employees.

Major welfare announcements for employees

Highlighting a series of significant decisions, the Chief Minister announced that the state government will release Rs 6,000 crore within the next 100 days to clear pending retirement benefits for retired employees. This move is expected to address long-standing financial concerns of pensioners and retired staff.

In a major step toward strengthening healthcare support, he declared that comprehensive health cards will be issued to all state government employees by June 1, 2026. This initiative fulfills a long-pending demand and aims to provide streamlined and accessible medical services.

On the issue of salary revisions, the Chief Minister directed officials to submit the Pay Revision Commission report immediately. He assured employees that a final decision regarding the PRC would be taken promptly after reviewing the report, signaling the government’s intent to resolve pay-related concerns without delay.

Strengthening employee engagement

To ensure continuous dialogue and effective problem-solving, the Chief Minister introduced a structured grievance redressal mechanism. Recognized employee unions will now meet with government representatives once every two months to present issues and monitor their resolution. This institutional approach is expected to bring greater transparency and accountability in addressing employee concerns.

Reiterating his administration’s employee-friendly approach, the Chief Minister emphasized that salaries are being disbursed on the first day of every month since the government assumed office. He also noted that over 67,000 job recruitments have been completed in the past two years, reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening public service delivery.

Additionally, he highlighted that teacher transfers, which had remained pending for a long time, were completed smoothly without disputes. The government has also ensured democratic functioning within employee unions by facilitating free and fair internal elections.

Recognition of past efforts and future commitments

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the government has resolved several issues that had been pending for decades. He pointed out that employee-related pending bills have been significantly reduced, contrasting the current administration’s efforts with the accumulation of dues during the previous regime.

He added that the government is working with a clear plan to address remaining challenges, including clearing pension arrears within the stipulated 100-day period. He described the health card initiative as a reflection of the Chief Minister’s humane and progressive approach toward employee welfare.

Employee union leaders expressed satisfaction over the government’s proactive measures and acknowledged that many long-standing issues have been addressed under the current leadership. They thanked the Chief Minister for recognizing 13,100 personnel in the medical sector as government employees and urged the government to expedite decisions on PRC, health cards, and other pending demands.

The Chief Minister reiterated that his administration is a “friendly government” committed to resolving employee issues in a structured and time-bound manner. He assured that the government will continue to work closely with employee unions to ensure their welfare while maintaining efficient public service delivery.

Employees call off protests

In a significant development, Telangana employees’ union leaders announced the withdrawal of all planned protest programmes, including the agitation scheduled for the 5th of this month. The decision was conveyed by JAC Chairman Maram Jagadeesh and TGEJAC Chairman V. Lachi Reddy following discussions with the state government. Expressing satisfaction over the clarity provided on key demands, the union leaders extended their gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his assurances and proactive approach.
