Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Friday demanded that the Congress government urgently address the mounting problems faced by farmers, alleging that many were being forced to sell produce below Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Addressing media persons at Ramayampet in Medak district, the BJP leader said paddy procurement centres were witnessing delays, with heaps of grain left exposed to rains due to slow lifting and shortage of transport vehicles. He alleged collusion between millers, middlemen and officials, leading to losses for farmers. He demanded that the government take immediate action on these agricultural grievances.

Rao also highlighted difficulties faced by maize farmers and urged the government to ensure procurement at MSP, calling it a “basic responsibility”.

Announcing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana on May 10, he said projects worth Rs.7,823 crore would be launched, including an industrial city at Zaheerabad and a textile park in Warangal.

The BJP leader further criticised the state government over delays in salaries, pending PRC arrears, and unresolved RTC employee issues. He also questioned the lack of clarity on the implementation of the Congress party’s “Six Guarantees”. Benefits meant for retired employees were also being delayed, he pointed out and said that iIt was unfortunate that there was no movement from the Congress government until the High Court intervened and reprimanded them, ordering that dues be paid within four weeks. This clearly demonstrates the failure of the Congress administration, he remarked.
