In a major boost to the ongoing construction activities in the capital region, the Krishna district administration has initiated steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of gravel and other construction materials required for the development of Amaravati. District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha informed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that coordinated efforts are being taken to facilitate material supply through a dedicated “green channel” mechanism.
The issue was discussed on Monday during the third meeting of ministers and secretaries chaired by the Chief Minister at the State Secretariat. The review meeting focused on accelerating infrastructure projects across the state. District Collector Lakshmisha and Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu participated in the meeting virtually from the Collectorate video conference hall.
Briefing the Chief Minister on the steps being taken at the district level, the Collector explained that all necessary measures are in place to ensure that there are no bottlenecks in the supply of gravel for capital construction works. He said the district administration is closely coordinating with various departments to facilitate smooth transportation and availability of essential materials.
“With Amaravati construction progressing at a rapid pace, we are giving top priority to ensuring adequate supply of gravel and other raw materials. There will be no hurdles in the movement or procurement of materials required for roads and infrastructure projects,” Dr. Lakshmisha informed the Chief Minister.
He added that a special district-level committee meeting was recently held to review the situation and address issues related to quarry operations and transportation. Existing quarry leases are being reviewed, and applications for new leases are being processed expeditiously under a single-window system.
To speed up approvals, joint inspection teams comprising officials from the Mines, Forest and Environment departments have been constituted. These teams are carrying out field inspections to fast-track No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and other statutory clearances.
The Collector assured that all procedures are being carried out strictly in accordance with government policies, legal provisions and environmental regulations. “Any issues that arise in the supply chain are being addressed immediately. The administration is treating this as a priority task to support the capital construction works,” he stated.
