Two persons were arrested by the crime team of SR Nagar in multiple mobile theft cases on Friday. Police arrested these offenders near Mythrivanam bus stop near SR Nagar, while they were moving under suspicious circumstances.
Arrested men were identified as A-1 Katta Naveen and A-2 Vittala Raju. The A-1 identifies the hostel which has no security. Then he entered the hostel rooms during night hours while the roommates were asleep. The A-1 stole the mobile phones and fled the scene, then sold them to A-2.
Both the offenders are friends and staying in the Pedda Chintakunta, Narsapur Mandal in Medak district. To make easy money, A-1 started committing thefts of cell phones at selected hostels where he could enter the rooms. For the past three months, he has been stealing cell phones from selected hostels and bachelors' rooms. They committed five offenses in Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts in the state.
Police seized 28 mobile phones totaling worth of Rs 4,50,000 from their possession. Out of which 25 were identified and different cases were registered at various police stations in Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. The remaining 3 cell phones have yet to be identified. Efforts are ongoing to trace out the remaining cell phone owners.
