Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu led a high-level power sector review at the Secretariat today, finalizing plans to establish a massive Green Energy Corridor (Phase-III) to integrate 18 GW of renewable energy into the main grid.

The Rs 22,000-crore infrastructure expansion includes 11 GW of solar power and 7 GW from pumped storage projects. To support this massive load, the state will lay 2,261 km of new transmission lines and build five major pooling stations with a combined capacity of 9,500 MW at Mudigubba, Talupula, Ramayapatnam, Porumamilla, and Koppaka.

Solarizing Public Infrastructure:

Solar panel installations have begun across government buildings (200 MW capacity) under the RESCO net-metering model. This includes transforming 2,898 schools and hostels into "Net Zero" campuses, starting with a 78-school pilot in Chittoor.

India's First Digital Twin Grid:

In collaboration with 'Pravah' (affiliated with Stanford University) and an AI Lab, AP is creating the nation’s first Digital Twin Grid to minimize technical power losses in the APEPDCL region.

Social Welfare Solar Schemes:

Already covering 1,35,821 SC and ST households, Naidu directed officials to complete the remaining homes by August. Furthermore, a subsidy program will deploy solar panels across 10 lakh BC community homes with Rs 20,000 financial support per household.

EV & Consumption Growth:

Work has begun on 577 EV charging stations across 131 locations. The push comes amid soaring power demand; April–May 2026 consumption rose up to 16.77% compared to last year, hitting a peak demand of 15,016 MW on May 21.

A World Economic Forum (WEF) delegation also met the Chief Minister to outline the implementation roadmap for India’s first thematic Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR), focusing on green energy transition and cyber resilience. Naidu directed officials to ensure tangible, results-oriented progress that can be confidently showcased at the next Davos summit. Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar and senior power utility officials attended the strategy session.
