Yashoda doctors give 10-yr-old victim new life

Hyderabad:Yashoda Hospitals has given a new life to a 10-month-old boy M. Khadar Armaan suffering from a rare bone marrow failure called “Amegakaryocytic Thrombocytopenia” with a state-of-the-art “haploidentical” stem cell transplant. 

The patient, from Nandavaram in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh was brought to  Yashoda Hospitals-Somajiguda on December 26, 2025 with persistent low platelet count. The child experienced  sudden respiratory distress and was diagnosed with congenital “Amegakaryocytic Thrombocytopenia”. 

Haploidentical stem cell transplantation using paternal stem cells was successfully performed on 8th January 2026. After the transplantation, the child recovered steadily with appropriate critical care support and 24-hour monitoring by an expert medical team.  

Yashoda Hospitals-Somajiguda, Unit Head. Dr. S. Prashanth Reddy said that the case highlights the importance of early diagnosis, timely availability of advanced transplant facilities and coordinated multidisciplinary care in the management of rare pediatric hematological disorders.
