Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday launched the two-day Singareni Bharosa Yatra from the BJP State Office, accompanied by Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao and other leaders, to reassure Singareni workers of the Centre's commitment to the future of the public sector coal company. The yatra will cover Kothagudem, Manuguru, Bhupalpally, Tadicherla, Ramagundam and Mancherial on July 13 and 14, with interactions planned with workers, trade unions and local stakeholders.

Addressing workers at the PKOC-2 mine in Manuguru and later in Kothagudem, Kishan Reddy described Singareni as South India's largest public sector coal producer and a lifeline for Telangana's power sector. He alleged that the Telangana Government and its power utilities owe the company nearly Rs 54,000 crore towards coal supplies and power generation dues, claiming the delay has affected salary payments, modernisation, machinery procurement and expansion plans. He urged the State Government to clear the pending dues immediately.

The Union Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with facilitating the direct allocation of the Tadicherla II coal block to Singareni after nearly 12 years. He said the block would support coal production for the next four to five decades and strengthen the company's long-term sustainability. He also highlighted the revival of the Naini coal block in Odisha, saying it would generate additional revenue for Singareni.
