Protesting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's reported remarks that the blood of BRS leaders should be "sprinkled on crops," the Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi Vibhagam (BRSV) organised a blood donation camp at Telangana Bhavan on Monday. The protest, held under the slogan "Quench your thirst with our blood," saw student wing leaders condemn the Chief Minister's comments, alleging that they were provocative and inappropriate in a democratic system. Around 50 BRSV leaders and activists donated blood during the camp. The organisers said the initiative was intended as a symbolic protest against the Chief Minister's statement and to register their opposition peacefully.
Several senior BRS leaders participated in the programme, including MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Dr K. Sanjay, former ministers Laxma Reddy and V. Srinivas Goud, former MLC Karne Prabhakar, former MLA Balka Suman, former BC Commission member Kishore Goud, former TGPSC member Sumitra Anand, and BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav. State vice-presidents Tungabalu, Kadari Swamy Yadav, Padala Satish, Dasarath and Jangaiah, along with other party functionaries, were also present.
Addressing the gathering, BRS leaders alleged that the Chief Minister's remarks encouraged political hostility and violence against opposition leaders. They said elected representatives should exercise restraint in their public statements and uphold democratic values. The leaders demanded that the Chief Minister withdraw his remarks and refrain from making such comments in the future.
After the blood donation camp concluded, BRSV leaders attempted to carry the collected blood packets to the Chief Minister's residence as part of their protest. However, police personnel stopped them outside Telangana Bhavan, preventing the procession from moving forward.
The police action led to tense moments in the vicinity of Telangana Bhavan as BRS workers raised slogans and tried to proceed towards the Chief Minister's residence. Police detained several BRSV leaders and activists and shifted them in two vehicles to Amberpet and Falaknuma police stations to prevent any law and order issues. The protest concluded after the detentions, while the party reiterated its criticism of the Chief Minister's remarks and accused the government of suppressing peaceful democratic protests.
