Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday called for stronger cooperation between the Centre and the State to accelerate Telangana's development, urging Members of Parliament across party lines to work collectively on key infrastructure, irrigation, education and connectivity projects pending with the Union Government. Addressing a meeting with MPs at Praja Bhavan to discuss issues awaiting Central approval and support, the Chief Minister stressed that development should rise above political differences and assured that the State Government would readily acknowledge the Centre's assistance whenever extended.

CM seeks Central support for key development projects

Revanth Reddy urged BJP MPs to take the initiative in securing an Indian Institute of Management for Hyderabad and sought expeditious completion of loan related processes for the Hyderabad Metro expansion. He said land acquisition for the Regional Ring Road had reached an advanced stage and appealed for timely Central funding to complete the project.

The Chief Minister also sought approval for the Urban Challenge Fund to support the Musi River rejuvenation project. On irrigation, he said discussions had already been held with Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil during the inauguration of the Tungabhadra gates and noted that Andhra Pradesh's No Objection Certificates were still required for projects sanctioned during the undivided State.

He said approvals were pending for the Dindi Project with an allocation of 30 TMC and the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme with 90 TMC. Once the required approvals for the combined 120 TMC were secured, the projects could be completed at a faster pace. Revanth Reddy also said linking the Godavari and Cauvery rivers would benefit Telangana and reiterated that his government had no hesitation in publicly acknowledging the Centre's support whenever it was extended.

He further requested early approvals for the Tummidihatti project, port connectivity proposals, the bullet train project and airports at Adilabad and Warangal.

Eatala highlights Central assistance, calls for better coordination

Participating in the meeting on behalf of the BJP, MP Eatala Rajender said the Centre had not discriminated against Telangana in allocating funds and asserted that delays in releasing the State's share under Centrally Sponsored Schemes had resulted in pending assistance. He welcomed the State's Green Channel mechanism for CSS funds, which, according to officials, had enabled Telangana to secure substantial Central assistance, particularly in education and healthcare, besides receiving ₹200 crore in special incentive funds.

Eatala said BJP MPs would continue working for Telangana's interests irrespective of political affiliations and urged the State Government to refrain from alleging that BJP MPs had failed to bring Central funds.

He also called for effective implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme for all ration card holders and better coverage for citizens above 70 years of age. Referring to railway infrastructure, he said the Centre was fully funding Railway Over Bridges and Under Bridges and sought faster execution of sanctioned projects, expansion of MMTS up to Yadagirigutta and submission of proposals for the Sammakka Saralamma to Ramagundam railway line.

He further urged the State Government to enhance rice milling and storage capacity, explore alternative procurement arrangements, respect MPs' protocol, consider their recommendations in the Indiramma Housing Scheme and assured the Centre's continued support in securing funds and approvals for Telangana's development.
