Tur prices ease further; chana remains stable

27-05-2026 12:00:00 AM

Tur prices declined in key spot markets on Tuesday due to price correction after a sharp rise last week, while chana prices remained steady amid stable demand and lower arrivals. Urad prices showed mixed trends as fresh summer crop arrivals increased in some markets. In Akola, chana prices stayed unchanged at ₹6,250-₹6,270 per 100 kg.

Traders said demand cooled slightly after strong buying last week, as millers and stockists had already built inventories. Lower arrivals and limited farmer stocks supported prices.

Procurement of chana in Maharashtra has slowed as market prices moved above the minimum support price of ₹5,875 per 100 kg.  However, traders said the government had already procured large quantities earlier this season. Tur prices in Akola fell ₹50 to ₹8,075-₹8,100 per 100 kg as farmers increased selling to meet kharif sowing expenses. Urad prices weakened in some markets due to higher arrivals from MP and Gujarat, while buying interest eased in major consumption centres.

Industry participants expect pulse prices to remain volatile in the near term as traders assess crop arrivals, government procurement trends, and seasonal demand ahead of the upcoming festive and monsoon-linked consumption period.
