Mustard seed prices showed a mixed trend across key markets on Tuesday, while soybean and groundnut prices remained largely steady amid limited buying activity and stable arrivals.
Traders said domestic oilseed prices have risen sharply on year in May as millers and refiners increasingly shifted towards local oilseeds due to higher imported edible oil costs.
In Jaipur, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices fell by ₹25 to ₹7,850-₹7,875 per 100 kg after recent gains driven by firm domestic demand. Traders at Marudhar Trading Agency said demand weakened at higher price levels, leading to the decline.
Mustard arrivals across the country were estimated at 750,000 bags, lower than 800,000 bags reported a day earlier. However, in Kota, mustard prices rose by ₹30 to ₹7,680 per 100 kg.
Local trader Mahesh Sameriya said crushers continued to prefer domestic oilseeds over imported finished edible oil products.
Arrivals in Kota increased to 22,000 bags from 20,000 bags the previous day.Soybean prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at ₹3,325-₹7,850 per 100 kg after gaining ₹200 in the previous session due to strong miller demand.
