The Mancherial District Police have announced stringent measures to completely curb illegal transportation of cattle in the district. Mancherial Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Eggadi Bhaskar stated this while addressing a coordination meeting with Gaurakshak (cow protection) members held at M Convention Hall in Mancherial town on Friday. He briefed the participants on legal provisions, precautions to be taken and the actions being initiated by the police department.

DCP Bhaskar appealed to the public not to believe or spread false information circulating on social media without verification. He urged people to immediately report any incidents of illegal cattle transportation to the Ramagundam Police Control Room (8712656597), Dial-100, or the nearest police station. He emphasized that a veterinary doctor’s certificate is mandatory for the transportation of animals. The district has set up seven permanent check posts and around 15 surprise check posts on major roads and inter-state/district routes to monitor and prevent illegal movement.

The DCP made it clear that illegal cattle transporters will face legal action under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Cow Slaughter Act, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and that vehicles involved will be seized. At the same time, he also cautioned that police will take strict action against anyone taking the law into their own hands, including attacks on vehicles or vigilantism in the name of Gaurakshak.
