Ensure quick transportation of paddy to godowns: Collector

District Collector Kumar Deepak has instructed officials to ensure that paddy procured at government centers is transported quickly to the allotted rice mills and godowns to prevent any damage to the grain and to maintain efficient storage practices. On Friday, the Collector inspected several paddy storage godowns along with mandal officials. He first visited the godowns set up at Morriguda and Jannaram in Jannaram mandal and gave necessary instructions to godown managers and staff.

Later, he inspected the compound wall construction works at Sankalpa Ashram Upper Primary School in Ponakal village of Jannaram mandal. He directed officials to complete the works before the start of the next academic year, as summer vacations are currently underway. The Collector also inspected the paddy godown at Lingapur village in Dandepally mandal along with Mandal Tahsildar Rohit DeshPande and Mandal Parishad Development Officer Prasad. He later visited the godown at Venkatraopet village in Lakshittipet mandal along with Mandal Tahsildar Dileep Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumar Deepak said the government is procuring paddy at Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the farmer welfare program. He stressed that there should be no lapses in the procurement process. He made it clear that paddy procured at centers should be moved immediately to the designated rice mills and godowns as per allocation, rice mill owners and officials should ensure speedy unloading of the grain and that mills must unload a minimum of 10 to 15 lorries per day.
