Govt keen on faster execution of Amaravati capital works

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials and contractors to accelerate the execution of Amaravati capital city projects, stressing that all works should be completed within the stipulated timelines while maintaining high quality standards.

Reviewing the progress of capital construction works with representatives of contracting agencies and senior officials at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said the government’s focus remains on speed, quality and timely delivery. While acknowledging that the pace of work had improved compared to earlier months, he said the execution must be further expedited to meet project deadlines.

Naidu told construction firms that participating in the development of Amaravati was a significant opportunity and urged them to deliver projects efficiently. He assured them that the government was ensuring adequate financial support and said there should be no delays due to funding constraints.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that works worth ₹50,999 crore covering 95 projects are currently under execution in the capital region. Naidu directed departments and contractors to achieve a minimum monthly work progress of 7.92% to ensure timely completion.

He instructed all departments to work in close coordination on issues such as land acquisition, funding, statutory approvals and project designs, saying inter-departmental cooperation would be critical for keeping projects on schedule.

The Chief Minister also emphasised that Amaravati should be planned as an integrated urban region along with Vijayawada and Guntur, rather than viewing it only as the cluster of 29 capital villages. He called for the simultaneous development of supporting infrastructure across the broader capital region.

Apart from road construction, Naidu asked officials to prioritise landscaping and green cover as part of the city’s development. He also announced that he would personally monitor the progress of Amaravati projects through regular reviews.

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand Sai Prasad and senior government officials, along with representatives of contracting agencies, attended the review meeting.
