The Government of India has approved a further three month extension in the tenure of Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, ensuring continuity in the state’s administration during a crucial period. The extension was granted by the Department of Personnel and Training following a request from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Rao, who was originally scheduled to retire on August 31, 2025, had earlier been given a seven month extension until March 31, 2026.

With the latest decision, he will now continue in office until the end of June 2026. The extension has been approved keeping in view administrative requirements and the need for stable governance.

It comes at a time when the state is engaged in key activities such as ongoing Census related preparations, implementation of major government programs, and coordination of Telangana Formation Day celebrations.

As Chief Secretary, Ramakrishna Rao has been playing a central role in policy execution, inter departmental coordination, and financial management, while working closely with senior officials to ensure effective delivery of government initiatives.

The decision is expected to provide administrative stability and continuity in governance during an important phase.

The State Government is likely to take a decision on the appointment of the next Chief Secretary closer to the completion of this extended tenure in June 2026.
