Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has called upon district officials to accord top priority to public health and ensure quality medical services reach every citizen. During his visit to the district on Friday, the Governor reviewed nutrition and healthcare initiatives in a high-level meeting held at the integrated district collectorate conference hall. Addressing the officials, Governor Shukla emphasized the need to further strengthen medical services across the district and ensure patients receive quality treatment.

Highlighting the prevalence of tuberculosis, he noted that 464 TB patients are currently undergoing treatment in the district. He directed officials to personally “adopt” these patients and provide them with monthly medicines and nutritious food without fail. The Governor expressed concern that many people suffering from persistent cough, weight loss, and other symptoms are silently enduring their illness due to fear of social stigma. He instructed officials to proactively identify such cases, create awareness, and bring them under proper medical care.

“Tuberculosis is completely curable. We must generate awareness among the public,” he said. Governor Shukla voiced serious concern over the rising menace of drug addiction among the youth, which he said was destroying their future. He urged officials to work towards the goal of “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) and actively involve self-help groups in these efforts. The Governor also stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards in all ongoing development works and asked engineering officials to exercise strict supervision.

He called upon people not to remain silent spectators to anti-social activities and assured that the administration would fully support measures to curb such elements. He urged all departments to work in coordination to accelerate the district’s development and transform it into a model district. District Collector K. Haritha made a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the welfare and development programs being implemented by various departments.

SP Nitika Pant briefed the Governor on the law and order situation and measures being taken to control drug trafficking in the district. Later, the Governor presented a certificate to Collector K. Haritha after she enrolled as a member of the Red Cross Society. District officials presented mementos to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Special Chief Secretary Dana Kishore.
