Suryapet: District Collector Tejas Nandlal Pawar has called for revolutionary changes in agricultural practices by focusing on high-income crops and stronger coordination between agriculture and horticulture departments.

Speaking at the Farmers Week celebrations organized by the Horticulture and Sericulture departments at the Public Club Auditorium in Suryapet as part of the Praja Palana Pragathi Plan, the Collector said farming should no longer remain limited to traditional crops. He stressed the need to transform agriculture into a more modern and profitable sector that ensures financial stability for farmers.

He instructed officials from both departments to work in coordination and create awareness among farmers at the field level. Highlighting market demand, he said oil palm cultivation should be expanded significantly and targets should be set mandal-wise, with beneficiary lists prepared immediately.

Considering the availability of sufficient water resources in the district, he suggested promoting vegetable cultivation as a profitable option. He also emphasized integrating modern farming techniques and mechanization to reduce labour and increase yield.
