Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday participated in the ongoing self-enumeration drive under the national census exercise, marking the launch of the online house listing and housing census process in the state. The Chief Minister registered his details through the official portal (se.census.gov.in), setting an example and encouraging citizens to actively take part in the initiative.

The self-enumeration process, which consists of 33 questions, was explained to the Chief Minister by AP Census Director J. Nivas. Officials informed that citizens can voluntarily submit details of their households online until April 30. Following this, enumerators will conduct door-to-door verification and data collection from May 1 to May 30 as part of the physical survey phase.

Speaking on the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu emphasised that accurate and comprehensive data collection is essential for effective governance and inclusive development. He said the state government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of welfare and development reach every citizen equally, and this requires planning based on family-level data.

Highlighting the importance of the exercise, the Chief Minister noted that this is the first census being conducted in Andhra Pradesh after the state’s bifurcation. “This is not just a data collection exercise, but a foundation for future development planning,” he said, adding that policies and schemes can be better targeted when backed by reliable demographic data.

He explained that the census process will be carried out in two phases. The first phase, which began today, focuses on house listing and housing conditions, while the second phase, scheduled for next year, will involve detailed population enumeration.

Urging citizens to utilise the online facility, Naidu called on people to provide accurate information and actively participate in the process. He stressed that public cooperation is crucial for the successful completion of the census and for shaping the state’s development roadmap in the years ahead.
