The Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee (APJAC) Amaravati has urged the state government to immediately address long-pending financial issues concerning government employees, warning that it would be compelled to launch an agitation if its demands are not met.
The warning came during the APJAC Amaravati State Executive Committee meeting held in Vijayawada on Sunday under the chairmanship of APJAC Amaravati Chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu. Representatives from all 28 districts, state executive members, and leaders of various employee associations participated in the meeting.
Employee representatives strongly demanded the immediate release of pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears, the announcement of an Interim Relief (IR) package, and the implementation of a new Pay Revision Commission (PRC)for state government employees.
Leaders stated that these issues have remained unresolved for a considerable period and have significantly affected the financial well-being of employees. They stressed that if the government fails to respond positively and expeditiously, employees may have no option but to intensify their protest activities.
To coordinate efforts for achieving these demands, APJAC Amaravati announced the formation of a 13-member committee. The committee is expected to begin its activities from June 8, engaging with stakeholders and formulating a strategy to press the government for action.
The employee leaders expressed confidence that other employee unions and organizations across the state would extend support to their cause. They emphasized that the issues raised are directly linked to the financial security and welfare of lakhs of government employees and pensioners.
The meeting also discussed matters relating to the future course of action concerning employees of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). Leaders announced that a separate meeting would be held on Monday to deliberate on APSRTC-related issues and formulate an action plan.
The APJAC leadership reiterated its appeal to the state government to take immediate decisions on employee welfare measures and resolve the pending financial commitments before the situation escalates into a larger movement.
