In a push to accelerate industrialisation, the Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled plans to establish 30 new industrial clusters along three prominent industrial corridors passing through the state. The initiative, backed by the Centre, is expected to significantly expand the state’s manufacturing footprint and reshape its industrial landscape. Officials have identified nearly 1.31 lakh acres of land across the state for the proposed clusters. Once implemented, these additions will take the total number of industrial clusters in Andhra Pradesh from 20 to 50, marking a substantial scale-up in industrial infrastructure.

The proposal builds on the momentum of three strategic corridors, Visakhapatnam–Chennai, Chennai–Bengaluru, and Hyderabad–Bengaluru, where development is already underway. While the first phase of the Visakhapatnam–Chennai corridor is nearing completion, industrial nodes are simultaneously being developed in districts such as Tirupati, Chittoor, Anantapur, and Kurnool under the other two corridors.

A notable aspect of the new plan is the focus on coastal and floodplain regions. Of the identified land, around 74,583 acres fall under flood-prone areas, while 56,608 acres are located along the coast. The government has already acquired substantial portions, about 27,000 acres in flood zones and 36,434 acres in coastal belts, for cluster development. Authorities plan to establish 15 clusters each in these two categories, with a strong emphasis on attracting maritime and port-linked industries. The clusters will be distributed across multiple districts, including Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Krishna, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kadapa, Kurnool, and Prakasam, ensuring regionally balanced industrial growth. To enhance logistics efficiency, the government aims to integrate these clusters with neighbouring states and major urban centres, improving connectivity through road, rail, and port networks. Proposals have already been submitted to the Central Government for funding support, with the state expected to share part of the investment.

Officials believe the initiative could be transformative, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a key manufacturing and export hub on India’s eastern coast, while generating large-scale employment and boosting regional economic development.
