Andhra Pradesh government has stopped fishermen’s fishing in fishing boats in the sea since Tuesday i.e 15th of April till June 14th. However, the Cabinet has approved financial assistance to fishermen during the fishing ban period. In order to help the fishermen during this time, the government will disburse Rs 20,000 each under the “Matsyakara Bharosa” from the 26th of this month. Each fisherman's family will get Rs 20,000 and the amount will be credited directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
The previous YSRCP government had given Rs 10,000 during the hunting ban period and now the government has increased the cash to Rs 20,000 and it is helping the fishermen community. During the time of ban, the engine boats should stay away from hunting.
There are no restrictions on wooden rafts. Officials warned that if the fishermen violate the rules and go fishing, cases will be registered and they will be deprived of the benefits of welfare schemes. Prawns and fish lay eggs and breed. This will take 2 months. It is for this reason that the ban on fish is implemented annually.
