Jagadguru Shankaracharya Maharaj Dwarka Sharada Peethadhishwar on Thursday said “Wakf Board claims ownership of lands in several places, but does not explain the legal basis for these claims.”

Speaking on the claims that some of the land where preparations for Maha Kumbh are being done belongs to the Waqf Board, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Maharaj said there was no evidence for such claims. “We can only talk about it when there is some evidence,’ he said.

Shankaracharya emphasized the ownership of the land at the fair. He stated that Maulana Shahabuddin of Bareilly once declared that if mosques were constructed on vacant lands, there would not have been any disputes today.

He further stated that if someone enters our temples and takes control, we would naturally object. Similarly, if we go to their mosque, they would prevent us from entering. Thus, people should respect each other’s boundaries.

Shankaracharya, who reached  Jabalpur, called upon all Hindus to visit the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela. He said that it is essential for Hindus to attend the Kumbh, as it is a religious and cultural gathering that strengthens the community.
