Campaign activity of the Congress party gathered momentum in Tamil Nadu as Telangana Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, addressed supporters in Sivakasi on Wednesday, cautioning voters against divisive politics. He asserted that the state would continue to uphold its commitment to secular and progressive governance.

Serving as a senior AICC observer, Uttam Kumar Reddy has been touring multiple constituencies, from Singanallur to Kavundampalayam. Arriving in Sivakasi, he delivered a confident message that Congress would win all 28 seats it is contesting. His remarks drew enthusiastic responses from party workers and alliance supporters, energising the campaign ahead of the April 23 Assembly elections.

He highlighted the strength of the DMK Congress partnership, describing the Secular Progressive Alliance as a well-coordinated and effective force with strong grassroots outreach. Calling Rahul Gandhi the future Prime Minister, he urged cadres to rally behind the alliance. He also expressed confidence that voters would deliver a decisive mandate to retain M. K. Stalin as Chief Minister.

In Sivakasi, the Congress campaign focused on its candidate G. Ashokan, with Uttam Kumar Reddy appealing to voters to ensure his emphatic victory. He described the alliance as a people-centric force committed to welfare and development.

Reiterating key welfare promises, he said the alliance plans to enhance women’s financial assistance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 per month. He also announced a major employment initiative, promising three lakh government jobs within 300 days of assuming office, including the recruitment of 10,000 women into the state police force. Urging voters to reject divisive forces, he said a renewed mandate would enable the alliance to continue its governance and accelerate Tamil Nadu’s overall development.
