The Tribal Welfare department on Thursday launched the New Giri product in DSS Bhavan. These honey based chikkis and cookies help uplift the tribal community and ensure the good health of young children.

This idea was floated by Tribal Welfare department Secretary A Sharath to create high quality chikkis and cookies using pure honey. The project not only ensures that the products are being used in a rightful manner, but also helps them market the products for future benefit.

All government schools are now promoting chikkis and cookies, but are loaded by high Sucrose content and are manufactured by private corporates that compromise on bulk manufacturing, rather than focusing on individual health of the children.

This project has been supported by Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister for Women and Child Welfare Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Seethakka and Kotnak Thirupathi (Chairman TGGCC) with their intensive research and extensive product knowledge, Nutrihub – ICAR- IIMR, CEO and Director Dr. B Dayakar Rao, has put together the best and most purest products with millet Nutri chikki and Honey millet cookies.
