The budget session of the AP Assembly is scheduled to begin from February 24th. In this context, Speaker Ch Ayyannapatrudu has decided to conduct training classes for MLAs. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have been invited as chief guests for these classes.

The speaker said that Om Prakash Birla had responded positively to it. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Monday, AP Deputy Speaker Raghuramakrishnam Raju and Speaker Ayyannapatrudu said that they he had suggested to YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to attend the Assembly but he did not come.

The speaker also said that it was not right on the part of Jagan to seek the same time for speaking as the time allotted to CM Chandrababu Naidu. The speaker said “In the recent assembly elections in the state, 84 out of 174 were elected as first-time MLAs.

We have explained to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that it would be better if all of them are trained on how to behave in legislatures. The training will be for two days on February 22 and 23. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have been invited for the meeting. We are planning to hold a 75-day assembly session.

That's when the legislators will get a chance to discuss people's issues in the Assembly.” Speaker Ch Ayyanna Patrudu recalled the training classes for MLAs which former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao got conducted for seven days at Gandipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad city for the first time MLAs. In the last elections, only 11 MLAs of the YSRCP had won.

However, YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote a letter to speaker Ayyannapatrudu that he be given the status of leader of the opposition. The speaker however made it clear that the status could not be assigned if the required number of MLAs (10%) was not there.
