Safety is a top priority, says SCR, GM

Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR) conducted a detailed review on Safety of train operations and provision of security to the Railway assets on Monday at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.  Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager, SCR also participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.

During the review meeting, the General Manager conducted a detailed review of all safety related aspects. He advised the DRMs to install CCTV Surveillance System extensively to monitor the safety at all strategic locations where it is not covered. He stated that CCTV surveillance system will be effective and crucial in prevention of the miscreant activities. He also advised to ensure the divisional officers that all the stabled coaches are locked properly and safety measures to be observed at railway premises including Station areas, yards and sidings.

The General Manager instructed all DRMs to carry out a detailed drive for Running Staff (Loco Pilots, Asst. Loco Pilots and Guards) to conduct compulsory activities that include checking of loco, availability of safety equipment, safety literatures and observance of caution order while performing the duty.

He stressed upon counseling the running staff taking proper rest and maintaining of proper health before coming to duty by Loco Inspectors. Arun Kumar Jain also reviewed the availability of fire prevention safety items like smoke detecting devices, Fog Safety Devices, Fire extinguishers etc., over the zone. He advised the officials to ensure adequate stocks to meet any exigency.

Arun Kumar Jain held a review on punctuality performance of trains across the zone. He examined the division wise punctuality statistics and instructed the Divisional Railway Managers to identify and monitor the trains which have lost punctuality and take appropriate measures for improving their punctuality.
