Information Technology and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Tuesday said Telangana is pursuing a planned and forward-looking strategy to emerge as a model State for the country, with a strong focus on sustainable, innovation-driven and environmentally responsible industrial growth. Addressing the FTCCI Excellence Awards 2026 organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) at JRC Convention Centre, Jubilee Hills, the Minister said the State government is making strategic investments in innovation, skill development and industrial infrastructure to ensure long-term economic growth and competitiveness.

He stated that Telangana is strengthening its presence in key sectors such as Information Technology, life sciences, manufacturing and deep tech. To address the challenges and opportunities arising from automation and emerging technologies under Industry 4.0, the government is creating a comprehensive industrial ecosystem that supports innovation and technological advancement.

Highlighting the importance of sustainable development, Sridhar Babu said future industrial growth will increasingly be driven by intellectual property, innovation and the knowledge economy rather than traditional factors such as land and capital. He stressed the need to bridge the gap between industry requirements and academic training to create a future-ready workforce.

The Minister highlighted the establishment of the Young India Skills University, aimed at equipping youth with industry-relevant skills and meeting the evolving workforce needs of various sectors. He said the government remains committed to attracting investments while creating employment opportunities for local youth. Efforts are also underway to promote industrial growth beyond Hyderabad to ensure balanced regional development across Telangana.

Referring to initiatives for supporting small businesses, Sridhar Babu said Telangana has introduced a dedicated policy for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), describing it as a pioneering initiative. He also noted that pending industrial subsidies since 2017 are being released in phases and that minimum wages have been fixed after consultations with all stakeholders. Stating that entrepreneurs are key partners in Telangana’s development journey, the Minister assured continued government support for innovators and businesses contributing to economic growth and job creation.
