The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) on Friday intensified its objections to the proposed TG20 League, questioning whether the tournament has received the necessary approvals from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and calling for complete transparency on the matter.

Releasing what it described as documentary evidence, the association urged authorities and stakeholders to examine official communications that, according to TCA, raise serious concerns about the legality, jurisdiction and regulatory compliance of the proposed league.

In a press statement, TCA General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy said the association has placed before the public and relevant authorities an official BCCI communication that, in its view, casts doubt on HCA's authority to conduct a Telangana based franchise league in the manner being projected. He challenged claims that the TG20 League has secured all required approvals and urged the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to place any such permissions in the public domain.

The TCA maintained that any major cricketing initiative must comply with the association's constitution, BCCI regulations and decisions of the General Body. Referring to a 2018 BCCI communication that reportedly classified the Telangana Premier League as an unauthorized tournament, the association questioned what approvals have since been obtained to legitimize the TG20 League, arguing that a change in name alone cannot replace formal regulatory clearance.

Expressing concern over potential legal and financial risks to players, coaches, franchise owners, sponsors and investors, TCA warned that launching a commercial league without complete regulatory clarity could create complications in the future. The association has given HCA, BCCI and the SMC five working days to place relevant records in the public domain, failing which it plans to seek intervention from competent courts and regulatory authorities.
