President of India, Droupadi Murmu was impressed by the exquisite handwoven sarees crafted by the Sircilla weavers, appreciating their intricate craftsmanship and weaving techniques. The President showed keen interest in their weaving techniques and praised their exceptional craftsmanship President Murmu, on Wednesday, inaugurated the “Vividhta Ka Amrit Utsav” at Amrit Udyan, Rashtrapati Bhavan, where Telangana’s rich cultural and handloom heritage took center stage.

Representing Telangana at the event were Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Prior to the main event, the President visited the Telangana Pavilion, where she was warmly received by the state representatives. They highlighted the significance of Telangana’s traditional artisans and handloom industry, with a special emphasis on the state’s renowned weavers.

As part of the festival, the Telangana Pavilion features stalls by Padma Shri awardees G Anjaiah and G Govardhan, along with 20 esteemed handloom artisans and 20 handicraft experts from across the state. Visitors can also witness live demonstrations by master artisans and savour authentic Telangana cuisine at the dedicated food stall.

A key attraction of the festival is the vibrant cultural performances curated by the Telangana Department of Culture, including the enthralling “Gussadi” dance, Oggu Dolu, and Perini dance forms, which captivated the audience. The event witnessed participation from Governors and ministers of various South Indian states.

The “Vividhta Ka Amrit Utsav” is organized by the President’s Secretariat as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, marking 75 years of India’s independence. The festival, running from March 6 to 9, aims to showcase the country’s rich cultural diversity under the theme of “Unity in Diversity.” Open to all visitors free of cost, the event provides a unique opportunity to experience the heritage and traditions of Telangana and other Indian states.
