The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is facing mounting legal and administrative pressure following significant developments on two separate fronts. While the Telangana Lokayukta has directed the CID to complete an inquiry into serious allegations against the association within four weeks, a group of Telangana cricketers has simultaneously approached the High Court challenging the legality of the TG20 League.

Lokayukta Directs Time-Bound CID Inquiry

Acting on complaints submitted by the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA), Telangana Lokayukta Justice Rajashekhar Reddy has directed the CID to investigate the allegations against HCA and submit a report within four weeks.

The complaints reportedly allege financial irregularities exceeding Rs 600 crore over the last fifteen years, unauthorized transfer of 18 GHMC-affiliated cricket clubs to private individuals, and an alleged transfer of Rs 69 crore from HCA funds to Visaka Industries.

Questions Raised Over TG20 Operations

The complaint further alleges that the TG20 League is being conducted through a second bank account allegedly opened without the approval of the HCA Apex Council. TCA has also sought the dissolution of the TG20 Governing Council, claiming violations of governance and procedural norms.

Telangana Cricketers Move High Court

In a parallel development, Telangana cricketers have filed proceedings before the High Court questioning the legality and validity of the TG20 League.

The petitioners have sought immediate suspension of the tournament and a judicial declaration that the league lacks legal sanction and mandatory approvals. The cricketers have further alleged that material facts concerning the league’s status and governance structure were not disclosed to participating players.

Legal and Administrative Heat Mounts on HCA

The twin developments mark one of the most significant challenges faced by HCA in recent years. With a Lokayukta-monitored CID investigation underway and a High Court challenge to TG20 pending consideration, the association now faces intensified scrutiny over its financial management, governance practices, and the conduct of the TG20 League.
