District Collector Ashish Sangwan has urged the public and officials to remain vigilant against mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, chikungunya, filariasis, and other seasonal infections in view of the upcoming monsoon. Chairing a meeting of the District Disease Prevention Committee at the Collectorate on Monday, the Collector stressed the need for collective efforts to prevent the spread of communicable diseases during the rainy season.

He advised residents to keep their surroundings clean and ensure that stagnant water does not accumulate anywhere, as it serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Old tyres, broken pots, coconut shells, discarded containers, and other items capable of holding water should be removed regularly. He also instructed people to keep overhead water tanks and underground sumps tightly covered and encouraged the use of mosquito nets and window mesh screens for protection. Highlighting preventive measures, he appealed to citizens to observe a "Dry Day" every Friday by emptying, cleaning, drying, and refilling water storage containers to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

The Collector also instructed officials of the Health Department to maintain cleanliness in school premises and educate students about personal hygiene and disease prevention. He further directed the district administration to conduct coordination committee meetings regularly and expedite preventive measures, including early blood testing, health camps, mosquito larval control, and Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS).
