The Andhra Pradesh government has officially implemented the new Motor Vehicle Act from today, introducing stricter traffic rules and imposing hefty fines for violations. The new regulations aim to enhance road safety and enforce disciplined driving habits across the state.

The government has taken this step in response to increasing road accidents and traffic violations. Authorities believe that imposing higher penalties will act as a deterrent and encourage responsible driving behaviour. Motorists are now required to strictly follow the new guidelines to avoid heavy fines and legal action.

The revised rules introduce significant fines for non-compliance with traffic regulations. Violators will face the following penalties:

  1. Riding without a helmet: Rs.1,000 fine.
  2. Driving a car without a seatbelt: Rs.1,000 fine.
  3. Drunk driving: Rs.10,000 fine along with possible license cancellation.
  4. jumping signals or driving in the wrong direction: Rs.1,000 fine.
  5. Driving without a valid license: Rs.5,000 fine, with the possibility of vehicle seizure.
  6. Driving without valid insurance: Rs.2,000 fine for the first offense, Rs.4,000 for the second.
  7. Using a mobile phone while driving: Rs.1,500 fine for the first offense, Rs.10,000 for the second.
  8. Triple riding on a two-wheeler: Rs.1,000 fine.
  9. Engaging in vehicle racing: Rs.5,000 fine for the first offense, Rs.10,000 for the second.
  10. Auto drivers without uniforms: Rs.150 fine for the first offense, Rs.300 for the second.

Authorities have emphasized that these penalties are intended to create awareness and accountability among motorists, ensuring they prioritize safety on the roads. To ensure effective enforcement of the new regulations, authorities have installed CCTV cameras at key locations across the state. These cameras will be used to monitor traffic violations in real-time.

Officials have warned that those caught violating rules through CCTV footage will be fined accordingly. Additionally, mobile patrolling teams will be deployed to identify and penalize offenders on the spot. These measures are expected to significantly reduce reckless driving and improve traffic discipline.

The transport department has urged motorists to adhere to the new rules to ensure road safety and avoid penalties. Officials have stressed that following traffic regulations is not just about avoiding fines but also about protecting lives. The government has assured the public that these measures are being implemented with the best interests of citizens in mind. With the introduction of stricter penalties and improved surveillance, authorities hope to instill a culture of responsible driving and create safer roads for all.
