“Nyāyyāt pathaḥ pravicalanti padaṃ na dhīrāḥ” – "The steadfast never deviate even a single step from the path of justice and righteousness." This ancient maxim finds a living embodiment in Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, whose political journey has been marked by unwavering dedication to democratic values and public welfare.

Bhatti Vikramarka stands as a symbol of such exceptional leadership. From grassroots movements to the highest levels of governance, his career reflects not merely political advancement but a sustained mission of public service rooted in the struggles and aspirations of ordinary citizens.

A Guiding force for the Congress in opposition

From the formation of Telangana in 2014 until 2023, when the Congress remained in opposition, Bhatti Vikramarka emerged as one of the party's most prominent voices. During this period, he consistently raised public issues and challenged the government without compromise. Serving as Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Working President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and later as Congress Legislature Party leader, Bhatti played a significant role in shaping the state's opposition politics.

Rather than relying solely on criticism, he questioned government policies using facts, statistics and real-life experiences of citizens. He effectively voiced the concerns of Dalits, tribal communities, farmers, workers, and unemployed youth. His satyagraha campaign opposing political defections remains a notable chapter in Telangana's democratic history and a testament to his dedication to protecting constitutional principles.

Standing with people during difficult times

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when many public representatives remained confined to their homes, Bhatti Vikramarka continued to engage directly with citizens. He interacted with migrant workers, assessed challenges faced by farmers at paddy procurement centers, and extended support to families affected by floods and other natural disasters. His presence during times of crisis reinforced his reputation as a leader who remained accessible and responsive to public needs.

The historic "People's March"

One of the defining milestones of Bhatti Vikramarka's political career was the "People's March" (Praja Padayatra). Stretching from the northern reaches of Adilabad to Khammam, the march became a landmark event in Telangana politics. Over 108 days, Bhatti walked more than 1,364 kilometers, enduring harsh weather conditions to directly connect with people across the state.

The march was more than a political campaign; it served as a large-scale social study of public issues. During the journey, he listened firsthand to concerns ranging from tribal podu land disputes and youth unemployment to women's economic hardships and farmers' distress. Many of the issues raised during the march have since contributed to shaping government policy priorities.

Delivering on promises

A true test of leadership lies not only in making promises but in fulfilling them after assuming office. In this regard, Bhatti Vikramarka has played a key role in implementing several welfare initiatives and commitments made to the people. These include the Indiramma housing scheme, subsidized cooking gas cylinders priced at Rs 500, free bus travel for women, farm loan waivers, expansion of Aarogyasri health coverage, establishment of Young India Integrated Schools, and various women's empowerment programs.

A Lifelong Commitment to Public Service

Political positions may change, and responsibilities may evolve, but commitment to the people must remain constant. This principle has guided Bhatti Vikramarka throughout his political life.

As he continues to serve with the spirit of a grassroots worker despite holding high office, supporters and well-wishers hope he will achieve even greater milestones in public life. On the occasion of his birthday, heartfelt wishes are extended to Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, whose career continues to be shaped by a steadfast commitment to public service and democratic values.
