Malabar Gold & Diamonds rolls out Rs 4.55 cr scholarships in Telangana

Malabar Gold & Diamonds, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment distributed scholarships worth Rs 4.55 crore to 5,050 students in Telangana under its FY 2026–27 CSR outlay of Rs 200 crore. Across India, the CSR programme is set to span more than 1,500 locations in 20 states, benefiting over 2 lakh people this year. Over time, the group claims to have supported 18 lakh beneficiaries through education, healthcare, women empowerment, and environmental initiatives. 

In education alone, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has extended scholarship support to over 1.15 lakh students, with assistance exceeding Rs 100 crore. For the current fiscal year, it has earmarked scholarships for 33,000 girl students nationwide, including the 5,050 in Telangana. 

The group also operates 1,543 micro-learning centers across 17 states, with plans to expand to 2,500 centers, targeting over 1 lakh students. These initiatives are being implemented in partnership with organizations including Thanal and Pratham. 

In Telangana, CSR work includes 49 micro-learning centers, street meal distribution of over 2,000 meals daily, and programmes addressing education access and hunger eradication.  Bollaaram Government College reported nearly 70 students receiving scholarships, while Mantheni students acknowledged support for uniforms and motivation from their college leadership. Malkajgiri Degree College’s student Akhileshwari noted that 200 students benefited, crediting faculty encouragement for participation. 

Other students, including Khushi from PGMS Bollaram, described the programme as proof that hard work leads to opportunity. Karimnagar representative Hemachandra Reddy also expressed gratitude, highlighting girl child education and government midday meal support initiatives. 

Asher O, Managing Director – India Operations, Malabar Gold  stated that “Do business, make profits, but at least 5 per cent should go back to society,” adding that the group has committed 5% towards girl education. He also referenced ongoing initiatives such as the Hunger Free World programme, which provides 1.3 lakh meals, and women empowerment projects across schools and colleges. 

Telangana IT, Electronics, Industries and Commerce Minister D. Sridhar Babu, chief guest on the occasion said, “Support a girl child, build courage, sponsor a scholarship, educate a girl and empower the nation.”

Siraj P K (Head, Retail Operations, Elangovan (Head of Manufacturing) were present at the event. The programme concluded with scholarship distribution.
