Seethakka calls for special attention to government schools and hostels

Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare, Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Thursday directed officials to pay special attention to ensuring quality accommodation, nutritious food and adequate infrastructure for students residing in government schools and hostels. She also stated that the state government is implementing a comprehensive action plan to permanently address the hardships faced by residents and farmers in the Godavari river basin due to recurring annual floods.

Minister Seethakka, accompanied by the District Collector Bhorkhade Hemant Sahadeorao, visited the Government Tribal Girls’ Hostel at Akulavari Ghanpur in Eturunagaram mandal. She also inspected the ongoing installation of geo-tubes, a modern flood-protection technology, being implemented near Ramannagudem to strengthen the safety of the Godavari river embankment. 

During her visit to the hostel, the minister inspected hostel facilities, including toilets, kitchen, classrooms and other amenities provided to students. Later, Seethakka examined the flow conditions of the Godavari River, the status of embankments, and the preventive measures being undertaken to protect riverbanks during flood seasons. She sought detailed information from officials regarding the river’s flow pattern, embankment conditions, geo-tube installation methods and flood mitigation measures using maps and technical presentations.

Reiterating the government's commitment to student welfare, Seethakka directed officials to maintain high standards of cleanliness, food quality, sanitation, and classroom facilities in government hostels. Following the inspections, the minister and the District Collector interacted with hostel students to understand their concerns and requirements. Seethakka also joined the students for breakfast and personally assessed the quality of the food being served.
