Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy strongly refuted the allegations made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy regarding the Hyderabad Metro Rail project and asserted that the Government of India remains fully committed to Telangana's development.

Addressing a press conference at his official residence in New Delhi, Kishan Reddy stated that the Centre has consistently supported Telangana's infrastructure and development initiatives without discrimination. He clarified that the Government of India had already sanctioned Rs 1,250 crore for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase I and has, in principle, agreed to extend 50 percent financial support for Metro Phase II, subject to technical and financial consultations between the Centre and the State Government.

The Union Minister dismissed allegations that he had obstructed financial assistance or influenced decisions regarding the proposed Rs 13,500 crore IRFC funding arrangement.

He described such claims as baseless, politically motivated and inappropriate. He emphasized that project approvals and financing decisions are based on technical feasibility, financial sustainability and institutional procedures rather than individual interventions.

Highlighting the Centre's contribution to Telangana, Kishan Reddy noted that national highway projects worth Rs 1.75 lakh crore are being implemented across the state. He also cited key initiatives including the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, modernization of 42 railway stations, MMTS Phase II, Zaheerabad Industrial Corridor and several other infrastructure projects. He further pointed out that the Centre recently extended interest free loans worth Rs 11,000 crore for a 50 year period, facilitated a Rs 4,100 crore loan from the Asian Development Bank for the Musi River rejuvenation project and supported agricultural procurement with Rs 34,000 crore this year.

Kishan Reddy reiterated that the BJP does not believe in obstructing development projects and remains committed to Telangana's progress irrespective of which party governs the state. He called for constructive dialogue between the Centre and the State Government to resolve technical and financial issues related to Metro Phase II rather than engaging in political accusations. He assured the people of Telangana that the Centre will continue to extend full support for infrastructure development and economic growth.

‘No clarity yet on metro loan proposal’

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said that issues relating to Hyderabad Metro Rail, including loan arrangements and the implementation of Metro Phase II, should be resolved through discussions between the Centre and the Telangana Government.

"Matters relating to the loan arrangements for Metro Phase I and cooperation for Metro Phase II should be discussed jointly. The Centre and the State Government must sit together and arrive at a consensus in the larger interest of the project," Kishan Reddy said.

Referring to the financing proposal under discussion, the Union Minister stated that he had spoken to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the issue.

“When I spoke to Khattar ji today, it was conveyed that there is still a lack of complete clarity among the concerned parties regarding certain aspects of the proposed loan arrangement. These issues should be discussed in detail and an informed decision should be taken through dialogue," he said.

Kishan Reddy further emphasized that procedural matters, including the issuance of the No Objection Certificate (NOC), should also be addressed through consultations among all stakeholders.

"Issues relating to the NOC and other procedural requirements are not matters for political confrontation. They can be resolved through discussions, coordination and technical consultations. Such matters should not be turned into public controversies," he said.
