Hunter: Biden’s cancer has spread, causing pain

Hunter Biden says his father’s prostate cancer has spread to his bones, causing severe pain, but the former US president remains publicly active.

Washington: Former US president Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread to other parts of his body and is causing him pain, his son Hunter Biden has said. In a BBC interview broadcast on Friday, Hunter grew emotional while discussing his father’s condition. “The cancer has spread, metastasised into his bones and further,” he said. “It’s very painful and it’s very debilitating in many respects.”

Joe Biden, 83, revealed his cancer diagnosis in May last year, less than four months after leaving the White House. Hunter said the diagnosis had been tough on the family. “It’s really sad to watch,” Hunter said, adding that he wished his father “would complain more”.

He said the former president remained active and continued to speak publicly about issues important to him. “He’s still doing his thing,” Hunter said. “He so believes in this country.” Hunter expressed gratitude for the pardon his father granted him, acknowledging the decision was open to criticism and had implications for his father’s legacy.
