Hyderabad, October 2026: Citizens Specialty Hospital and American Oncology Institute (AOI), Hyderabad, have introduced the Biograph Horizon PET/CT equipment from Siemens Healthineers to strengthen cancer imaging and support more informed clinical decision-making. The advanced imaging equipment will help clinicians assess the extent of cancer, plan treatment and monitor patients’ response to therapy, while incorporating features designed to support patient comfort during scanning. For patients and their families navigating a cancer diagnosis, access to relevant diagnostic information plays an important role in understanding the condition and discussing the way forward. PET/CT imaging combines information about metabolic activity with anatomical detail, helping doctors assess the extent of disease, evaluate whether cancer has spread and monitor response to treatment.
The Biograph Horizon PET/CT equipment supports a range of oncology imaging applications, including specialised scans for conditions such as prostate cancer and neuroendocrine tumours. It incorporates features designed to help manage radiation exposure while producing diagnostic images. Patient comfort is also a consideration in its design, and the examination bed can accommodate patients weighing up to 227 kg, within the equipment’s specified operating limits.
Commenting on the development Dr. Prabhakar Palacharla, Regional Chief Operating Officer-South, said, “At American Oncology Institute and Citizens Specialty Hospital, we believe that the value of advanced diagnostic technology lies in how it supports clinical decisions and, ultimately, the care patients receive. With the introduction of the Biograph Horizon PET/CT equipment, we are strengthening our ability to assess the extent of cancer, support treatment planning and monitor response to therapy. This information helps our clinical teams make more informed assessments and have meaningful discussions with patients about their condition and the next steps in care.
Dileep Mangsuli, Chairman, Cancer Treatment Services International (CTSI), said, “Technology is playing an increasingly transformative role in elevating the standards of cancer care, enabling greater precision in diagnosis, more informed clinical decisions and personalised treatment approaches. Investments in advanced diagnostic and imaging technologies are critical to strengthening the entire care pathway, from early and accurate disease detection to treatment planning and response monitoring. At CTSI, we see medical innovation as a key enabler of better healthcare outcomes.
