Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, hailed the commencement of operations at the Naini Coal Block in Odisha as a landmark achievement in Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s (SCCL) 136-year history. For the first time, SCCL has begun coal production outside Telangana, marking a significant step in its national expansion.
Describing it as a proud moment for SCCL, the Minister emphasized that this milestone reflects the company’s growing role in strengthening India’s energy security and supporting economic growth. He highlighted the central government’s proactive efforts in removing the hurdles that had delayed the operationalisation of the Naini coal block.
“On behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Coal, I extend my best wishes to the entire Singareni family. This moment is not just a celebration of the company’s legacy, but a stepping stone to many more achievements in the future,” said Kishan Reddy. The Minister reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to supporting key energy infrastructure projects, enabling public sector undertakings like Singareni to expand their presence and contribute meaningfully to the nation's progress.
