The State government has initiated the process for the prestigious Gaddar Telangana Film Awards, aimed at honouring cinematic excellence within the state. On Wednesday, a meeting of the Gaddar Awards Jury took place at the TFDC conference hall, chaired by noted actress Jayasudha. Jayasudha expressed her intention to embrace the responsibility given by the government as a challenge, vowing to successfully carry out the selection process.

Dil Raju, the Chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC), called on the jury members to fairly assess the nominations submitted for the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards introduced by the state. He encouraged them to work in a manner that would elevate the Telugu film industry’s recognition on a national level.

Dil Raju also mentioned that the state government has appointed industry experts to the jury and that this marks the return of film awards after a gap of 14 years. "In the previous united Andhra Pradesh, the film awards did not garner such a level of response," he said.

Telangana Film Development Corporation Managing Director Dr. S. Harish said that the government has formed a 15-member jury for the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards with actress Jayasudha as the Chairperson. He mentioned that a total of 1,248 nominations have been received for the Gaddar Awards across all categories and the screening process for the nominations will begin on April 21.

The jury indicated that there have been 1,172 applications in the individual category, and 76 applications across categories such as feature films, children’s films, debu films, documentary/short films, film critics, books and others.
