A review meeting was held with the Labour and Insurance Medical Service(IMS) Departments at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Andhra Pradesh Labour, Factories, Boilers, IMS Minister Vasamsetty Subhash.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister directed the officials to prepare comprehensive plans to develop the existing four ESI hospitals into super specialty hospitals. He also said that the number of Insurance Persons (IP) should be increased to 25 lakhs from the current 14.5 lakhs in coordination with the Labor Department.
“Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Tirupati ESI hospitals should be developed as super specialty hospitals. Necessary steps should be taken to make the existing hospitals, dispensaries and diagnostic centers fully functional. Especially, suitable proposals should be sent to the government for providing the necessary staff and equipment.”he said.
Expressing concern that due to the lack of inspection officers due to which ESI cards are not being registered for workers, he instructed the officials to pay special attention to this and organize a special drive if necessary. He said that proposals should be prepared to give promotions to special grade civil surgeons to lower level doctors and other employees quickly.
He said that the role of the labour department is very important in the eradication of child labour and asked the officials what programs they have taken in this regard. He also asked us to prepare a proposal on what steps we can take in the case of schemes that were stopped by the previous government. “The rules and regulations on Chandranna Insurance should be finalized quickly.
Also, appropriate steps should be taken to resolve the pending claims from March quickly. Departmental Promotion Committee , Deputy Commisioner of Labour and other employee promotions should be completed quickly and compassionate appointments should be given to them and prompt action should be taken so that justice is done to them.
Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad, Additional Secretary Gandham Chandradu, IMS Director IRTS Anjaneyulu, Labor Joint Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners participated in the review meeting.
